Amazon Studios have announced that they are producing a new TV series based on 'The Lord of the Rings' , in partnership with the Tolkien Estate and Trust, HarperCollins and New Line Cinema. According to reports, the streaming service has made a multi-season commitment to the new Lord of the Ring series, and will be a reimagination of the fantasy novel by J.R.R Tolkien, different from the vision of filmmaker Peter Jackson.
"The Lord of the Rings is a cultural phenomenon that has captured the imagination of generations of fans through literature and the big screen," said a representative for Amazon Studios in a statement. "We are honored to be working with the Tolkien Estate and Trust, HarperCollins and New Line on this exciting collaboration for television and are thrilled to be taking The Lord of the Rings fans on a new epic journey in Middle Earth."
The LOTR original series by Amazon set in Middle Earth, is going to be a prequel to Tolkien's The Fellowship of the Ring.

Tolkien’s original writings.”
