Lighten your underarms with natural home remedies

Dark coloration of the skin in the underarms region is usually not a disease or medical condition. Shaving, deodorants, proper ventilation, excessive sweating, hormonal imbalance, accumulation of dead skin and sun exposure are some of the reasons behind dark underarms.

Dark armpits is a common problem, If your dark armpits make you conscious while raising your arms, or simply you avoid wearing short sleeves then these tips is definitely gonna make your day.

However, sometimes dark underarms may also be as a result of a medical condition that is known as acanthosis nigricans which is often associated with insulin resistance, obesity, hormonal disorders, certain medications, and cancer.If your dark underarms are caused by this condition then you must consult a doctor for proper diagnosis and treatment.

Here we highlight few home remedies easily - available from your kitchen racks to lighten your underarms.

Lemon Juice

Lemon is a natural bleaching agent & it helps to brighten up the discolored area. All you have to do is rub lemon juice on the darkened area every day for two to three minutes before taking a bath.  After you are done with bathing don't forget to apply a moisturizer, you will surely start noticing results in 7- 10 days.


Potato is also a great natural bleach and anti irritant that helps to lighten underarms and provides instant relief from itchiness. What you can do is place a thin slice of potato or apply potato juice on your armpits and keep it for 10 to 15 minutes. For better results use this treatment twice a day and voila..you have brightened underarms!

Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is a great disinfectant and contains mid acids that helps remove dead cells. Start with mixing two tablespoons of vinegar and baking soda. Apply this mixture for about 10 minutes or until it is dry. Rinse it with cold water and repeat it 3 times a week for greater results.

Aloe Vera

You can either scoop out the gel from Aloe Vera plant or use organic Aloe Vera gels available in shops. You simply need to apply this gel on your underarms for 15 minutes and rinse it off . It is a great natural exfoliator that removes dead skin, and is loaded with anti-bacterial properties that helps to soothe and nourish your skin took.

Olive Oil

Mix a tablespoon each of olive oil with brown sugar, and you have a home made exfoliator ready! Scrub it for a minute or two, and then leave it for 5 minutes. Rinse it off with lukewarm water and you can apply this twice a week for effective results.
