There are foods that should not be combined together because they can damage the health of your body. Some of the immediate consequences of bad food combinations are digestive un-ease, gas, bloating, stomach ache, nausea, fatigue, and problems with elimination.
While short-term effects can clear up within a day or two, long-term food combining can lead to more severe problems like bad breath, dry skin, rashes, chronic inflammation, poor sleep, low energy, and chronic digestion issues. Most people feel a surge of energy and naturally, lose weight once they start following several simple foods combining rules.

Avoid the following food combinations:
1. Limes and cough medicine
Limes have the ability to impede or block the enzymes that break down cholesterol-lowering statins. Dextromethorphan is the most common used cough medicine, so if you are using this medicine and you are consuming limes, the medication can build up in the bloodstream if the breakdown of statins fails, which on the other hand will increase the unwanted side effects from the medication.
2. Avoid drinking water during meals
Many doctors recommend this particularly between or right after a meal. The water consumption can cause discomfort and may interfere with the body’s digestion. You should leave a time space of at least 30 minutes between your meal and water consumption. In this way, you are assisting the body in the proper absorption of the necessary nutrients.
3. Dairy products and antibiotics
Whenever you have a need for antibiotics, you need to check if you are taking prescribed drugs under the class of tetracyclines or fluoroquinolones. This is important because these types of prescription antibiotics bind to calcium, iron, and other minerals in milk-based foods, which will prevent the absorption of the antibiotics. In this way, you are reducing their ability to fight off infections. For that reason, have in mind to avoid consuming milk, yoghurt, and cheese 2 hours before and after taking the pills.
4. Bananas and milk
This combination is everyone’s favourite, but according to Ayurveda, this one is the heaviest and toxin forming. In fact, it produces heaviness in the body and slows down the mind. However, if you are a great fan of these types of smoothies, ensure to use bananas that are very ripe and add cardamom and nutmeg to promote digestion.
5. Eggs and Milk
Eggs and milk should not be combined together even if it seems to you a harmless combination. These two ingredients on the long run can cause some major damage resulting from the structural difference in the proteins of both food products. This makes the absorption difficult when combined together.
