Healthy teeth and gums not only give you a beautiful smile, but also indicate good oral health and hygiene that play a very important role in your life.Honestly, there is nothing like a nice smile but, unfortunately, sometimes it feels like everything you eat discolors your teeth or makes your gums recede. While discoloration can be remedied easy, receding gum line can be a lot more difficult.

For good oral health, the first step is to maintain proper oral hygiene. It means brushing your teeth at least twice a day, flossing once or twice a day (preferably after dinner), rinsing your mouth after each meal and using a mouthwash at least once daily.Fortunately, there are simple ways to keep your teeth and gums strong and healthy. However home treatments can produce different results. The effect depends on how long you follow the remedies. If you are trying to get rid of yellow teeth, then better understand what causes it in first place

Major factor which is responsible for turning your white teeth to yellow is thickness of Enamel. Thin enamel is more prone to staining and bacterial infection. Dentin is the inner layer which is somewhat yellowish in color. When you enamel becomes thinner it exposes dentin.

Drinking too much tea or coffee, smoking cigarettes, chewing tobacco and having sugary drinks which is a mix of acidity and sugar are both bad for teeth. All of these things stains your teeth and they are major culprits for your yellow teeth so start by cutting down or completely eliminating these things. Also brushing your teeth right after eating which something might seem totally harmless and even good but according to dentists should really avoid this habit. The acid and sugar produced when we eat weakens the enamel temporarily and brushing it at the time weakens it further. Ideally, wait for half an hour or more or brush before eating and rinse your mouth after the meal.

Use Aloe Vera

Studies have shown that if you put aloe vera gel directly in the mouth and use it as a paste to brush your teeth or just mix it up with water for a mouthwash it has a teeth whitening effect.

Common Salt

It is white crystalline powder also known as Sodium chloride. Common salt clean surface stains which makes it excellent home remedy to get rid of yellow teeth. It clean tartar to revive white color. Using this as mouth rinse can remove plaque and promote better hygiene.

Mix 2tbs of salt and mix with lukewarm water, stir until it dissolves completely and you can use it as a mouth rinse twice a day. You can also mix salt with baking soda and rub it on your teeth.

Use Lemon

Lemon has a solid bleaching power. Squeeze lemon juice into a small bowl and add some sea salt to it. Grind it down to produce a soft paste. Apply that to your teeth and let sit for three to five minutes. Rinse well & thoroughly.

You can also add a few drops of lemon oil to your water and use it on a regular basis. This technique helps you prevent recession of the gum line because of its ability to stimulate and increase tissue formation.

Use Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar has been used for centuries as a disinfectant and natural cleaning product. The antibacterial property of vinegar is what makes it useful for cleaning your mouth and whitening your teeth. The acetic acid in vinegar has the potential to erode the enamel on your teeth. For this reason, you should not use apple cider vinegar every day. You should also limit the amount of time that apple cider vinegar is in contact with your teeth.

To use it as a mouthwash, dilute it with water and swish it around in your mouth for several minutes. Make sure to rinse your mouth with plain water afterwards.

Use Charcoal

Rubbing charcoal daily can remove yellow tinge and gives whiter teeth. Charcoal absorbs plaque and toxins causing yellowish color. It removes the stain which damages the upper layer and whitens teeth.

Mix 1tbs of charcoal, 1 tsp. of salt, 2tsp.of coconut oil to make a paste. Put it on toothbrush and clean your teeth for about 3 min.

Fruit Peel

Rub your teeth with the inside of a banana peel or orange peel. The peel is rich in magnesium, manganese and potassium which recharges the enamel. Brush your teeth a few minutes later and use the peel at least twice a week.

While some tooth discoloration comes naturally with age, it is largely a result of plaque build-up. Regular brushing and flossing can help your teeth stay white by reducing bacteria in your mouth and preventing plaque build-up. Toothpaste gently rubs out stains on your teeth, and flossing removes bacteria that lead to plaque. Regular dental cleanings can also help your teeth stay clean and white.

There are several natural methods to help whiten your teeth. However when using natural healing methods, it’s essential to remember that change does not happen overnight. If you want to get your teeth looking whiter naturally, you need to first understand that this will take time. Give yourself at least a month trying the remedies with limiting discoloration factors and you can decide if it works for you. Though, most dentists offer whitening treatments that are much stronger than these natural remedies.

Remember maintaining good Dental hygiene is the key. It can be a contributing factor to many diseases in other areas of the body if not properly taken care of.
