Guess what guys? Disney has introduced the full cast for its upcoming live-action 'Lion King.' But that's not the best part, Beyoncé is going to be portraying Nala!
The remake of Disney's classic 1004 movie - The Lion King is going to be a live-action musical drama movie, directed and co-produced by Jon Favreau, and produced by Walt Disney Pictures.
The announcement of the remake was first made in September 2016. During February 2017, the first casting was made with Donald Grover as Simba, and James Earl Jones reprising his role as Mufasa. In April, Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen was cast for the role of Timon and Pumbaa, respectively. While in July, John Oliver was cast as Zazu, and in August it was announced that the role of Sarabi and Rafiki would be played by Alfre Woodard and John Kani, respectively.
Back in March of this year, it had been reported that Beyoncé is the initial choice of Jon Favreau for the role of Nala. Moreover, they also announced that if the singer accepts the role, then the director and studio are completely willing to do anything to accommodate her busy schedule. And at last, on 1st November, it was officially confirmed that Beyoncé has been cast as Nala.
On the same day, Disney revealed Chiwetal Ejiofor would play Scar, and Eric Andre, Florence Kasumba and Keegan-Michael Key would play the role of Azizi, Shenzi and Kamari respectively.
Production for the live-action remake of the iconic Disney movie reportedly began during the summer of 2017.
The Lion King is going to premiere on 19th July, 2019.
