The budget airline AirAsia (Thai) in association with their Maldivian agent, All H Maldives and the local PR firm Maldives Getaways have hosted the 2nd Maldives Travel Fair in Bangkok Thailand.
The fair at Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok showcased affordable travel options in the Maldives, and was held on the 28th of September 2017. It comes as a part of the Maldives Travel Fair which commenced in Malaysia at Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 in early September 2017.
Exhibitors that took part in the fair to display their products included guesthouses such as UI Inn at Hulhumale, Plumeria Maldives in Vaavu Atoll Thinadhoo, Shallow Lagoon in Alif Alif atoll Rasdhoo, Serene Sky in Alif Alif atoll Thoddoo, Sunrise Lodge in Vaavu Atoll Keyodhoo, along with Adaaran Resorts - operators of six resort propertis in the Maldives, and Villa Hotels and Resorts - operatores of five resort properties in the Maldives.
Promotion of Maldives as an ideal budget destination has been ongoing by Maldives Getaways and the local ticketing partner for Air Asia - All H Maldives. The Malaysian-based budget airline - AirAsia operates direct flights daily to the Maldives from Kuala Lumpur, while their joint venture Thai AirAsia operates a separate non-stop daily service between Bangkok and Maldives.
These airlines offer low-cost options for travellers, especially from South East Asia, to visit the Maldives on a budget. The region has been showing an increase in tourist arrivals, with a growth of 19.3 percent during the first half of 2017. The biggest growth were seen from travellers that visited from Malaysia (34 percent), Philippines (22.5 percent), and Thailand (18.9 percent).
