Air France begins operation of direct flights to the Maldives

The French flagiship carrier, Air France has commenced it's operation of direct flights to the Maldives. 

AF 222 - the maiden flight of Air France, departed from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport at 20:52 on the 1st of November 2017, and landed at Velana International Airport at 10:48 on the 2nd of November 2017 - taking a total of 9 hours and 56 minutes from Paris to Male' (and vice versa). 

A water solute welcomed the Air France flight to the Maldives, while the Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed and top officials from Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), greeted the crew and passengers on board.

Air France will operate two flights per week, with departure from Paris-Charles de Gaulle on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and departure from Male' on Thursdays and Sundays. 

A Boeing 777-200 will be used by the airline to operate flights to the Maldives, with the latest Air France travel cabins, with the capacity to cater to a total of 312 passengers, including 28 in Business, 24 in Premium Economy, and 260 in Economy.

The direct flights from Air France - Paris, is expected to increase the number of tourist arrivals from France, as well as the region of Europe. Air France is the latest airline to begin direct flights to the country for the winter season - peak tourist season.
