Islanders Tourism & Hospitality Academy appointed as American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institutes' global education partner

Islanders Tourism and Hospitality Academy (ITHA) has been appointed as a global education partner of American Hotel and Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI) - a world leading hospitality training and hotel management institute widely recognised for its certification and qualification.

In a ceremony held on 30th October 2017 at Hotel Jen in Male' City, both institutes signed the partnership agreement. From ITHA, Chairman Abdul Rasheed, and Vice President of International Sales at AHLEI Ed Kastli.

Addressing the ceremony, Chief guest of the event; Minister of Tourism Moosa Zameer stated that each year, the number of jobs available in the hotel industry keeps increasing as is the need for trained professionals. He highlighted the efforts made by ITHA in promoting development of individuals and business in the industry.

Islanders Tourism and Hospitality Academy (ITHA) is a division of Islands Education, established with the aim of creating passionate, skilled, creative, and qualified people for the booming resort market in the Maldives. ITHA seeks to create pathways for individuals pursuing careers in the tourism industry, to join AHLEI certification.

Islanders Education has been in operation since 2008 with it's first establishment being Billabong High International School, and now operating 17 schools in 11 islands around the Maldives.

During the function Islanders Tourism and Hospitality Academy also launched 'Dhirunba' campaign - a social responsibility initiative moment, aimed to raise awareness among the youth of Maldives on benefits of building a career in the tourism industry. Over the next two years, visits will be made to every island  community to conduct awareness sessions.
