Manta Ray Season is nearing!!

Baa Atoll is home to nine essential protected areas such as the two well-known manta ray hotspots, Hanifaru Bay and Baathala. 

The waters of Baa Atoll surrounding Four Seasons – Landaa Giraavaru is one of the richest in the Maldives. And as these two areas renowned for manta ray sightings are relatively close to the Four Seasons – Landaa Giraavaru, the resort is gearing up for this year’s manta ray season, with an announcing of a special Manta Ray Watch package. 

From June to October, Four seasons- Landaa Giraavaru offers a spectacular once in a lifetime opportunity to get close to these grand manta rays and to get personal with the world’s biggest fish - the whale sharks. 

During this time of the year, the monsoon combines of lunar tides and southwestern currents which causes a large number of planktonic shrimp to come near the sparkling waters surrounding the Four Seasons – Landaa Giraavaru, hence attracting a large number of manta rays to the resort waters.

Taking this as an advantage, the Four Season – Landaa Giraavaru has announced a Manta Ray watch package which will continue for four-nights, the package starts from USD 6,285 and is subject for 10% service charge and all applicable taxes and is available from June 7th to November 21st. 

The Manta Watch Package includes, Daily buffet breakfast, all round trip, airport transfers, a personal coral frame propagation, a manta-on-call snorkeling excursion by speedboat, marine biologist briefing and a dolphin cruise for two. 

Manta rays are majestic creatures, with pectoral fins stretched like wings, and would range from 13-15 feet, and would move elegantly across the blue water, and is a sight mesmerizing to grasp. What’s more, mantas are known to have one of the largest comparable brain sizes of any marine animals, thus making them extremely curious. Main reason why it’s always a pleasure encountering these royal creatures up close.
