Back in 2014 following the after party of the Met Gala themed 'Charles James: Beyond Fashion' a video was published that showed Jay-Z and Beyonce’s sister - Solange Knowles getting into an argument  in an elevator.

During the 58-second clip, Solange confronts her brother-in-law, while Beyonce stands by and watches as her sister attacked her husband. Solange was held back by another man until the elevator stopped, and the three exited. However, the family has not made any public comment regarding the clash.

On the 18th of August, in an hour long podcast interview of Jay-Z, the rapper spoke about how close he is with his sister in law. During the RapRader interview, the 47 year old father of three discussed his relationship with Solange, along with personal and professional issues of his life.

“We’ve always had a great relationship,” the rapper said on the podcast. “I fought my brothers and argued with my brothers my whole life. It just so happens, who we are, these things go into a different space, but it ain’t nothing.”

Although Jay-Z did not provide any details on what started the disagreement and how it escalated into Solange attacking him, he reassured that the two are doing fine and their relationship is not suffering in anyway since the incident.

“We’ve had one disagreement ever,” he said. “Before and after, we’ve been cool. She’s like my sister. I will protect her. That’s my sister. Not my sister-in-law. My sister.”

The rapper who dropped his most recent album 4:44 back in June, also commented on his feud with former best friend and collaborator - Kanye West.

“You got hurt, because this guy was talking about you on a stage,” the rapper said referencing to West’s infamous Sacramento concert rant last year. “But what really hurt me, you can’t bring my kid or my wife into it. … We’ve gotten past bigger issues, but you brought my family into it, now it’s a problem with me.”
