It is quite fortunate that any addiction can
be beaten, or in other words – transformed. But into what?
It’s simple, an addiction can be transformed into various forms of love. – As for now it is the “Love for Life”. The love for traveling, the love to explore new places, new cultures and new adventures. Love is far more powerful than any addiction. How you may ask? Love is conscious, sustainable and unconditional – it doesn’t cause cravings nor depression.
If you have been travelling for a while now, and those pristine islands, those sandy beaches are starting to look plain and same to you, stop and look carefully now. Are they really the same, or have you stop paying attention to them?
You should stop to feel the moment, not in the past nor in the future. Be in the ‘Now’. For this moment, forget about other things, and most importantly forget about the other places. Stop comparing the place you are at right now, with the places you could have been to. Now that you are here, why not enjoy the moment? This place is beautiful too, in its own way. Every place is, you just have to pay attention to it. By doing this, you would start to appreciate where you are now, whether it be your home, or somewhere unknown. Even if you have known a place for decades, by living in the present you can see a person or that place in a new perspective, you just have to change the way you look at it.
Moreover, you should be grateful for where you are and what you have. Perhaps you are not travelling to your desired destinations, but if you look around beautiful things are happening right now. Learn to appreciate the littlest of things.
The difference between travel addiction and the love for travelling can be hard to distinguish. You may feel like a travel addict here and now, and the brutal truth is that your love for travelling can get messy as well, turning it in to a real addiction. So from here on, be a travel lover, who lives in the moment and appreciates life one has now - Whether you are travelling or not.
